Prepared by: Charity Helpers Foundation
Date: 2025-06-14
Version: 1.0

---

**CONCEPT SUMMARY**
Cage Catch is a high-energy game that combines the rapid passing and scoring of handball with the agility-testing challenges of an obstacle course. Players must navigate barriers before passing or scoring, turning every movement into an act of skill and strategy.

---

**REQUIRED EQUIPMENT**

- Handball or foam dodgeball
- Portable mini-goals or scoring cages (2)
- Obstacle course equipment (cones, hurdles, tires, ramps, etc.)
- Marking tape or cones for boundaries
- Scoreboard or manual tally sheet
- Stopwatch or game timer

---

**FIELD LAYOUT**

- 40’ x 20’ play area split into two sides
- Each side contains 3–5 obstacles (varied in type and complexity)
- A goal cage on each end of the field
- Central “exchange zone” where teams can reset plays

---

**PLAYER ROLES**

- 4–6 players per team on field
- Offense: One player must navigate obstacle section before passing
- Defense: Attempt to intercept passes and block goals while also managing their own obstacle resets
- Substitutes allowed every 2 minutes

---

**GAME OBJECTIVE**

Score more goals than the opposing team within the time limit while successfully completing obstacle challenges. Each successful goal must be preceded by a completed obstacle loop.

---

**BASIC RULES**

1. Players cannot pass or shoot unless they’ve first completed an obstacle loop.
2. The ball must pass through at least two players before a scoring attempt.
3. No physical tackling; body-blocking must be passive.
4. Interference with opponents' obstacles results in penalty throw.
5. 2 halves of 6 minutes each, 1-minute break in between.
6. Teams swap sides at halftime.

---

**VARIATIONS / SCALING IDEAS**

- **Time Crunch Mode**: Decrease round time to increase urgency.
- **Mirror Match**: Identical obstacles on both sides to ensure fairness.
- **Kids Version**: Foam balls only, easier obstacles like crawl tunnels and balance beams.
- **Night Play**: Use glow-in-the-dark gear for evening charity events.

---

**STAT TRACKING SUGGESTIONS**

- Successful obstacle completions
- Passes per goal
- Interceptions per player
- Goals scored per player
- Obstacle time averages

---

**NOTES**
Cage Catch encourages both physical coordination and strategic planning. It’s perfect for youth festivals, outdoor charity fairs, or school vs. teacher fundraising showdowns.
